Jewell Watson

Mrs. Jewell Watson, age 88 of Calhoun, passed away Friday, May 11, 2012 at her residence. She was born in Pickens County, GA on January 3, 1924, daughter of the late William “Bill” and Jane Young Goble. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, William Dean Watson; a brother, James Goble; and a sister, Ollie Perry. Mrs. Watson was a special “Momoe” to all kids. She loved gardening and cooking and her flowers. She was a member of the Ludville Church of God. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Tommy Fain, and Jan and Henry Conner, all of Calhoun; brothers-in-law, Harold Perry of Fairmount, Emory Watson, Larry Watson, Glenn Watson, and Mike Watson; and sisters-in-law, Sue Goble of Fairmount, and Marie Phillips. Grandchildren surviving are Tina and Dale Silvers, Brent and Donna Sparks, Tiffany and Eric Burns, and Isaac Holbert and his fiancée Hannah; and great-grandchildren, Justin Myrick, Brett Silvers, Savannah Daniels, A.J. Daniels, Matt Daniels, Brittany Petty, Blake Smith and his wife Tracey, Ashley Whitfield and her husband Shane, Taylor Belcher, Randyn Burns, and Abigale Burns; and two great-great grandchildren, Lyric Smith and Landon Whitfield. Other survivors include nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives, and special friends, Anne Page, Barbara and Dennis Pierce, Mr. Bohannon, Liz Taylor, and Floyd and Darlene Grooms. Funeral services for Mrs. Jewell Watson will be held Monday, May 14th at 2:00pm from the Ludville Church of God, with Rev. Mitchell Gaston and Rev. Harold Jones officiating. Mrs. Watson’s body will lie in state at the church from 1:00pm until the funeral hour of 2:00pm. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers include Richard Goble, Reggie Goble, Tony Childers, Shane Whitfield, Dale Silvers, Brett Silvers, and Brian Perry. Honorary pallbearers will be the children she had babysat over the years. The Watson family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home beginning Saturday from 6:00pm until 9:00pm.
